President Donald Trump made his first public appearance on Saturday since returning to the White House after his hospitalization for the coronavirus, welcoming hundreds of supporters to the South Lawn for an event that marks the return of political activities in the final stretch of the campaign.

Trump addressed the large crowd even as the White House refused to declare that he is no longer contagious and against the guidance of public health officials.

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said Saturday he has been discharged from a New Jersey hospital where he spent a week, following his announcement that he had contracted the coronavirus. In addition to Trump and first lady Melania Trump, multiple people who had traveled with the president or attended events with him recently contracted the virus.

Doctors had given him supplemental oxygen at the White House before his transfer to the hospital. Minnesota health officials say nine people who attended a Sept.

The Department of Health said Friday that two more cases were associated with a counterprotest nearby. Trump has visited Minnesota frequently this cycle in hopes of becoming the first Republican to win there since Richard Nixon in At his airport stop in Bemidji, about miles kilometers north of Minneapolis, there was little sign of social distancing among the thousands of attendees and many went without face masks.

Trump balked at holding the debate in that format, and Biden scheduled a town hall with ABC News for that night once Trump said he would not participate.

But the commission said it would not reverse its decision not to have the candidates on stage together, citing an abundance of caution with health concerns — particularly for the town-hall-style debate that was set to feature questions from average voters.

Joe Biden is heading back to Pennsylvania on Saturday, continuing his focus on his native state that President Donald Trump won narrowly in Trump won the county by about 1. Democratic President Barack Obama won Erie County by 20 points and 16 points in his two national victories. After publicly toying with the idea of staging a campaign rally in Florida this weekend, President Trump is set to travel to the state on Monday instead.

The Trump campaign announced that the president would hold his first rally since announcing he had tested positive for coronavirus in Sanford, Fla. Trump had earlier told Fox News that he wanted to hold in-person rallies on Saturday and Sunday, and released a letter from his doctor stating it was safe for him to resume public events. But Bloomberg News reported earlier Friday that Trump would remain at the White House over the weekend, and address supporters from there.

Wright, whose current term expires on Jan. Judge Conley is an area native who was born and raised in downtown Russell and attended Russell High School inthen attended Chase Law School in northern Kentucky. Conley has more than 25 years of experience with the inner workings of Kentucky law. He said the crucial part of being a judge is taking into consideration all of the evidence from both sides of a case, and then making a ruling based upon what the applicable law states.

Conley said the position is a privilege, and not what some people might think of as having the authority to simply do — or more importantly, judge — as one pleases. The result, Conley said, is most judges are often unpopular because their rulings go against what people want to happen. But Conley said he tries to take that in stride and focus on living up to his service to the law. The goal, he said, is to always be fair.

This, he believes, will be crucial experience when reviewing the cases and judgments of other judges. Having that experience helps you make better decisions. Commented Sorry, there are no recent results for popular commented articles.Patrick H. Head, Dist. Maddox Kilgore, Amelia G. Pray, Asst. A jury found Robert Conley guilty of cruelty to children in the first degree by burning the back of his three-year-old son with a cigarette. Conley contends the trial court erred in admitting statements by a doctor and the victim through the testimony of law enforcement officers and a videotaped interview of the victim.

We find no error and affirm Conley's conviction. Conley contends the trial court erred in allowing an officer to testify as follows: "The doctor had told me, when I arrived, that [the victim] had told him that he received two cigarette burns on his back from his father. Evidence is hearsay when a witness at trial offers evidence of what someone else said or wrote, outside of court, and the proponent's use of the evidence essentially asks the jury to assume that the out-of-court declarant was not lying or mistaken when the statement was made.

However, there are many exceptions to the exclusion of hearsay testimony. Therefore, we find the trial court did not err in admitting the officers' statements. In addition, the victim's mother testified at trial that the victim told the doctor, "My daddy burned me on the back with a cigarette. Conley next contends the trial court erred in admitting the victim's videotaped interview because it lacked sufficient indicia of reliability.

We disagree. Although several factors weighed against admitting the victim's videotaped interview in this case, such as the victim's tender age, the length of time between the event and the videotaped interview, and the fact that police officers conducted the interview, we cannot conclude that these factors required that the videotaped interview be excluded as a matter of law.

The trial court did not abuse its discretion in admitting the videotaped interview. Moreover, the record shows that the victim was present at trial, testified as a witness, and was subject to cross-examination.

Thus, Conley had every conceivable opportunity to examine and cross-examine the victim in the presence of the jury regarding the victim's memory of and the circumstances surrounding his videotaped interview. Conley also had the opportunity to allow the jury to judge the child's demeanor in response to any examination or cross-examination about the alleged making and veracity of the videotaped interview.

This provided an additional safeguard to Conley's right of fair trial and provided Conley full opportunity for confrontation. In his final enumeration of error, Conley contends the evidence was insufficient to support his conviction. However, the victim testified at trial that Conley burned his back. This evidence, standing alone, was sufficient to establish Conley's conviction for cruelty to children in the first degree.

In addition to the victim's testimony and the evidence which we have held in this appeal was properly admitted by the trial court, additional evidence not attacked on appeal supported Conley's conviction. The victim's mother testified that the victim told the doctor his father burned him on the back with a cigarette.

The doctor testified that the marks were consistent with cigarette burns and not consistent with friction injury. And, the doctor opined that the burns were probably second degree burns and appeared to be three to seven days old, consistent with the timing of the victim's visit with Conley. Photographs of the burns were admitted into evidence. The evidence was sufficient for a rational trier of fact to find Conley guilty beyond a reasonable doubt of cruelty to children in the first degree. State, Ga.
